Adult (18+) Mon-Fri (09:00-16:00):

• Discuss the referral face-face with the Liaison Psychiatry Team in the Emergency Department each morning at 08:00. The Liaison Psychiatry Team will attend the ED at this time
• or
• Contact any member of the Liaison Psychiatry Team by telephone:
  • Self Harm/Suicidal: “Crisis Nurse” CNS via switch
  • Alcohol & Drug Mis-use: Liaison CNS via switch
  • All other mental health issues: Liaison Doctor via switch
• Do not send an electronic referral from the Emergency Department.The only exception to this: is adult patients in CDU being referred to Alcohol and Drug Liaison during normal working hours. The CDU CNM/nursing should make an electronic referral on iCM in addition to discussing with the Liaison CNS)

Adult (18+) Out of Hours:

• Contact the Adult Psychiatry NCHD On-Call via switch
• or
• For Self-harm/Suicidal presentations, Monday to Sunday (08:00–20:00): Contact the Self Harm “Crisis Nurse” CNS via switch

Child (<18) Mon-Fri (09:00-17:00):

• Discuss the referral with the Child Psychiatry Registrar who will contact the Emergency Department at the current times of approx. 8.30am and 12pm. Registrar is on-site in office hours either in CUH or MUH
• Otherwise contact Child Psychiatry via switchboard

Child patients (<18) Out of Hours:

• Contact the On-Call Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist: via switch
