Surgical Referrals MUH
- All patients who have had recent surgery should be referred to the
appropriate surgical team, or the surgical team on-call if they re-present
with related symptoms (for example a clinically suspected DVT in a patient
following any type of surgery, any abdominal symptoms in a patient having
had an abdominal procedure, any lower limb symptoms in a patient having
lower limb bypass surgery etc.)
- All patients with abdominal pain who require admission should be referred
to the surgical team on-call
- Patients who are referred (by their GP) for surgical admission, should not
be discharged without the on-call surgical team informing the GP
- All surgical admissions and discharges (by surgical team) must be
discussed with the surgical registrar on call
